Roy Bedward’s Bio

I’m Roy Bedward and love to do painting, drawing, woodworking, and clay in my studio. I’m happy to show my work to you. I hope you like it. When I’m painting I feel more normal and happy than any other time in my life. I love color. It can make me so much more alive when I have it in my life. I’m not sure if you will understand that but it is very real for me. Just imagine how it would feel to not be able to talk. If you can really imagine that then you can begin to understand what my art means to me. It helps me stay in my body too.

For over ten years I have been painting in self made studios at home.

Some people may find it hard to believe that I am an artist, as I have been diagnosed with a thing called autism.

Please understand that I look like I don’t know much, but I am really very intelligent.

Before I could type, no one knew how much love was in my heart.

I want to ad that I love nothing but my paintings. I also love my mother very much. I want to pay my mother back someday. I want to give her life beyond me. I also want to live independently. I want to be a man. I also want to live alone independently. I want to be able to talk. I want a lot in my life, but just want to live normal.

While in Roy’s studio, he has a support member assist him with his body if he becomes “stuck.” Despite needing a support member, all of his painting are completely independent and original. Roy may need assistance with setting up his supplies and getting his mind and body focused. The support member may type with Roy if he is having difficulty choosing a color for his painting. After the music begins and Roy’s mind and body are ready he begins to paint, he will then enter his artistic world.
